We are pleased to congratulate our alum, Playerize, on their fresh-out-the-oven acquisition of $50 million ad platform, SuperRewards, which was founded by FounderFuel mentor Jason Bailey. 

What will they get out of this deal? Co-founder Lyal Avery says it will bring “thousands of customers. Millions of end users. More than a hundred thousand impression per hour. A solid and experienced team of eight people. A suite of mobile, social and stand alone MMO products to help monetization and game discovery. Thousands of advertiser relationships. Dozens of diverse payment options around the globe for mobile payments, prepaid game cards, localized credit cards, and bank payments. Historical analytics and data around user behaviour and virtual currency optimization.”

That’s huge. Nice one, guys. We can’t wait to see what heights Playerize will reach in the near future.

So it’s one week after Demo Day to the day, and although Notman House is pretty quiet with most of the teams packed up and gone home, the airwaves haven’t stopped buzzing about Demo Day and the Spring 2012 Cohort.

Les Affaires nous présente les chiffres: 7 filles, 28 gars, et 3 mois. 

“Montréal a déjà produit de grandes entreprises technos. Elle aspire aujourd’hui à devenir une capitale numérique. Pour cela, il lui faut bâtir une masse critique d’entrepreneurs, mais aussi une communauté autour de ceux-ci. Des investisseurs, des anges financiers, des événements… L’accélérateur d’entreprises FounderFuel contribue à cet écosystème.”

Ian: ”On regarde beaucoup l’équipe [...] l’idée est secondaire [...] On regarde qui sont les personnes derrières l’idée et on est très conscient que durant les 12 semaines l’idée va toujours se déplacer un peu, ca va changer, ca va créer des nouvelles opportunités. Il n’y a pas une entreprise qui va rentrer dans le programme qui va sortir exactement avec le produit qu’il pensait.”

Steven: ”Si on était resté par nous-mêmes [...] nos chances auraient été beaucoup plus petites. D’arriver ici, ça nous donne de un, l’occasion de travailler temps plein sur notre projet, et puis d’être payer pour le faire et en plus ça nous donne accès a un réseau d’une centaine de personnes qui sont la pour nous aider.”

The wonderful people at WatchMojo are making a 7-part series about FounderFuel, and the first part has been released! The CEOs of our 11 teams talk business, execution vs. idea, and what they miss about home (gym, girlfriends, dogs, jobs… ). A great way to track the roller coaster ride our teams have embarked on, these WatchMojo videos are going to show the morphs in ideas, practices, and attitudes of the founders and teams from day 1 through Demo Day. We’ll also get to know some mentors through the series as well.

Ian made an appearance on HipMojo today, in an interview with Ash Karbasfroosh. He spoke about incubators vs. accelerators, FounderFuel’s program, the importance of mentors, the last FounderFuel cohort, and some specifics about companies that graduated from FounderFuel last November.
